Feeling white collar at a blue-collar job

Last year, I wrote a post called Feeling blue collar at a white-collar job. My goal with that post was to inspire those who feel unimportant at their current jobs. However, I’ve also received feedback from a lot of people feeling the opposite way. They feel stuck or like they’re outgrowing their jobs. So if you can relate to this feeling, then the following message is for you. Stay inspired.

Life moves super fast sometimes, and it’s easy to feel like you’re getting left behind. But don’t stress because your life is moving at the correct speed for you all the time. If you feel like you’re outgrowing your job, then it’s OK to ask for more responsibilities. You obviously have more to offer, so share your expertise with your colleagues.

If you’re ready to leave your current job, then that’s OK, too. Your career is YOUR career, so your ultimate professional goal is to make sure you’re happy at your job. Whatever is making you feel like you’re overqualified is the same thing that will eventually lead you to your success. Ambition is a hell of a drug, and I believe you’re headed in the right direction.

Professional growth is a natural thing to crave. You are an efficient and worthy employee, and no matter what anyone tells you, you can always have and deserve more. Keep pushing because your light has yet to shine, but when it does, it’ll be too bright for anyone to dim it. Your hard work and dedication HAS paid off; you are NOT a waste of time.

There’s a lot more ahead of you, so be prepared. Every day is a life lesson, so you want to make sure you take notes. Your time is coming. Just hang in there.

  1. I agree 100 percent. I believe the more problems you solve, a greater asset you become and the more money you will make.
